Factory seasoning is prepared for use: All of our cast-iron cookware goes through a factory pre-seasoning stage to give you a cast-iron skillet that is ready to use. There is no need for early seasoning. However, you must occasionally season it to preserve the factory-seasoned cast iron layer. Remember that seasoning is a continuous process. Care Instructions

  • Without seasoning, iron rusts naturally. Scrub the rust, rinse it off, pat it dry, and then brush on some vegetable oil. If the issue still exists, completely remove all of the rust and continue the steps below:
    • With a stiff brush and hot, soapy water, clean the kitchenware. This time, since you are making the seasoning from scratch, using soap is entirely OK.
    • After washing, thoroughly rinse and dry the cookware.
    • Apply a thin, even layer of cooking oil of your choice or melted solid vegetable fat to the interior and exterior of the pan. A glaze that is overly sticky will result from using too much oil.
    • Place aluminum foil on the bottom rack of the oven and preheat it to 350 to 400 degrees F to catch any oil drips.
    • Place the cookware on the oven's top rack with the lid off.
    • After baking it for at least an hour, turn off the oven and let it cool.
    • When it has finished chilling, store it in an open, dry area.
    • As necessary, repeat the procedure.
