The box end is 15 degrees off-center, giving you more room for your fingers and making it simpler to go around obstacles. The open end is tilted 15 degrees to decrease the working swing arc in confined locations and to enable the wrench to engage the fastener twice as frequently with each spin. A 12-point opening doubles the access angles of a 6-point. It makes contact with and exerts force on the flat sides of fastener heads rather than the corners in order to prevent rounding off.
